Our Goal, Our Difference, and Our Tradition

Our Goal: As a community, Cuamba strives to create lifelong friendships that are generated by bringing together kids of varying ages and athletic abilities through their passion for sports and the variety of activities we offer.

What makes us different: Unlike your park district or local camp, Cuamba maintains a small, tightly knit community of no more than 40 campers. This environment enables Cuamba to build one big family, not pockets of friends within a camp of hundreds. As ex-Cuamba campers, all of our counselors can attest that cuamba friendships last a lifetime.

Tradition: Where to even start? Cuamba has lived on tradition for over 70 years. Whether it be the nicknames that the campers and counselors live by, our original camp songs, the Cuamba World Series, tree-away before the Cubs game, our outdoor overnighter, or our 70-year-old record books Cuamba’s traditions are dug deeply into its roots and are apparent in almost every activity we do.

“I highly recommend Camp Cuamba to anyone who wants their son to have a summer full of sports, friendship, camaraderie, amazing field trips and fun. What our family loves so much about Camp Cuamba and what makes it unique among camps, is the small size, which allows for close-knit bonds to form among all of the campers and counselors. My boys had many incredible summers there and have been positively impacted by being a part of the Cuamba family.”
